Creating a truly pan species, evidence based formulary is no mean feat, this requires the effort of a great many dedicated vets and scientists. That is why we value our collaborative community and invite and welcome feedback to help make sure all the information is as up to date in our rapidly developing field of veterinary medicines.
The app makes use of all the available information to inform safe, effective use of medicines in any species. This includes pharmacology data for dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds, small mammals and other exotic pet species.
The availability of this information facilitates safe medicines supply in line with UK, EU and USA dispensing legislation. Any special considerations for dispensing and for humans handling medications is clearly defined to ensure the safest use of medicines even when unauthorised use is required.
Our evidence grading system provides a clear, instant and transparent view of the quality of data supporting the doses suggested. References from PubMed abstracts and other available sources are reviewed and scores generated using a clear evidence matrix to generate reliable and reassuring scores.
Evidence grading is clear and ranges across five classes
0 = Negative Evidence
1 = Very-Low-Quality/Anecdotal Evidence
2 = Low-Quality Evidence
3 = Moderate-Quality Evidence
4 = High-Quality Evidence
Simple Icon-based navigation encourages rapid searching by species, therapeutic class, or by named drug. Medication information can be located quickly and accurately down to species level, via clean search mechanisms.
User feedback routes help to ensure data is accurate and appropriate. Users are provided with direct feedback routes from within the app allowing them to comment upon drug data. This means the service is able to evolve as a collective EBVM collaboration via users and invited consultants.
The VetFormulary app allows direct printing of client information sheets when unauthorized medications are supplied. This encourages and facilitates safe medicine supply to the public whenever veterinary medicines are dispensed.
VetFormulary is dedicated to the establishment of an independent collaboration network, through the development and maintenance of shared principles, taxonomy, tools, and resources, suited to both exotic animal and mainstream veterinary disciplines.
Today, VetFormulary offers pan species evidential reviews for drug doses.
